This past year we started to have Lynn come in while we were away, rather than boarding the boys because one of them had become ill and needed to take oral medicine twice a day. Now, anyone who has had to give their animals medicine knows it isn’t always an easy task.
I can say my Baxter took (for me) his meds very well. So, as trusting as he was of Lynn…he took his meds for her as if she were a pro! Our Baxter passed away in July and I am grateful he was home the week prior in Lynn’s care rather at a kennel. And, I know Oliver is extra spoiled now that he is here alone without his brother…..sucking up every minute too! As we know, no one can replace a parent but having Lynn step in when needed is definitely the next best thing!!
I was so happy to have Lynn watch my two cats while on a California vacation with my entire family and having no one to watch them. Lynn came to my house morning and dinner time to feed the cats.

Here is how to spot a trustworthy caretaker for your animals while you’re away. Look to see how long they’ve been in business. More years in business means more experience handling all different types of animals and situations.
See if their reviews on Google are consistent. This means they get new reviews all the time. If a Google profile has reviews but they are from years ago, that could signal the business isn’t getting a lot of services booked. Meaning their services might not be top-notch.
Look at other qualifications they have, such as certifications. This showcases the pet sitters’ dedication to their careers. Find videos or photos of the animals they care for through their FB page or other social media outlets. You can get a feel for how they will treat your animal while under their care.
Schedule a meeting before you hire the pet sitter so you can see how your animal bonds with them, and also, you can get a feel for their personality and energy as the animal owner.

How will I know my pet is ok while I’m away?
Are there any red flags to look for when choosing a pet sitter?
Be cautious of pet sitters who lack transparency, have negative reviews, or seem unwilling to address your concerns. If a pet sitter doesn’t have insurance or a background check they can provide proof of, I would steer clear and go with a company that has these verifications for your safety, your home, and your pet’s safety.
Can I meet you before hiring you for pet sitting?
Yes, of course, I offer a free meet and greet session where I will come and spend time with you and your animal. You can see how I bond with them and how they warm up to me. I will take the necessary time to get to know you and the animal’s requirements, and if we feel it’s a good fit to work together, then we can move forward with scheduling your pet-sitting services.
How do I know your reviews are legit?
I have 150+ 5 start reviews on my Google business profile. Google reviews allow you to see who wrote the review as you can click through to their Google profile. If reviews seem fake Google will not display them on a business profile.
I also have a Facebook business page which shows daily posts inside my pet sits via videos and photos. If I wasn’t a good pet sitter, there is no way I would have pet sits every day to showcase on my Facebook business page.
